Villars is gearing up for a truly exceptional moment! From 1 to 5 April 2026, the resort will host the Finals of the Ski Mountaineering World Cup.
All ski mountaineering disciplines will be featured, including Individual, Sprint, Vertical and Team events. A week of excitement, top-level performance and intense emotions awaits in the heart of the Alpes Vaudoises. Join us on the peaks and feel the thrill alongside the world’s best athletes!

Ski mountaineering will make its debut at the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic Games.

The disciplines for the finals of the 2026 ISMF World Cup

The Vertical Race

The Vertical Race tests athletes’ power, endurance and explosiveness. On a continuous uphill course with no downhill sections, competitors must climb as quickly as possible over a significant vertical gain. An intense and spectacular format, made for pure climbers!

The Individual

The flagship event of ski mountaineering, the Individual combines technical ascents, sections on foot, fast descents and demanding transitions. Athletes tackle a complete and varied course where strategy, stamina and terrain mastery make all the difference.

The Mixed Relay

In this event, each team member completes a sprint-style circuit lasting around 15 minutes, featuring two climbs and two descents.

The Sprint

The shortest and most explosive event, the Sprint is a true concentrate of skiing skills: gliding, transitions, boot-packing, kick turns, descents, ascents and tactics. The best athletes complete the course in under three minutes!
